We visited Square Pizza Co during SDCC 2026 and it was a quick trolley ride away from the convention center. They serve both slices and whole pies (8 square slices). If you love the crispy, cheesy crust of a perfectly baked Detroit-style pizza, this is THE spot. The friendly staff here absolutely know their craft and are executing it beautifully. Hands-down one of my favorite meals we had in SD and one of the best pizzas I've had in a long time.

Nice topping combinations. Slices are large; $8 for one. Cheese on the crust is nice and adds flavor. The dough was lackluster; low on salt and unremarkable in flavor. However, the crust was crisp. Slices seemed pretty fresh.

Don’t let the sketchy corner fool you—this spot is a true diamond in the rough for pizza lovers. Inside, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, the kind of place where you can kick back and enjoy a cold beer while your food comes out fresh. The pizza was outstanding—perfectly cooked, flavorful, and clearly made with care. My whole family loved it. We ordered a “Jeep” along with a custom Hawaiian, and both were ready right on time when I arrived, which made the experience even smoother. the friendly staff was a great bonus—they made me feel at ease. Altogether, it was a fantastic experience, and I’ll definitely be making this a regular stop.

Solid pizza spot in the East Village. Enjoyed a thin crust cheese pizza and a Margherita pizza slice during happy hour. Both tasted fine however, the Margherita was better. Sat outside with my pup and soaked up the sun rays. Will be back in the future.

Wonderful pizza. My husband and I loved the fluffiness of the dough. Also, the portion sizes were huge! The picture below isn't two slices...it's one slice cut in half. Service was great, quick and simple. The atmosphere was pretty quiet overall, however the dining space was on the smaller side. We visited at a downtime and found parking on the street but it wasn't easy. I would highly recommend this place for the quality and the price of your meal.
